This NYC heat has made me insane. Maybe it’s that or the terrible sinus infection I’ve been dealing with for TWO WEEKS NOW. Either way, I’ve been holed up in my apartment, and curating this playlist has been one of the things that has stopped me from needing to up my Prozac dosage. This is what I mean by music saves lives!
Anyway, this playlist is chock-full of some of my favorites (hi, Madonna’s “Candy Perfume Girl,” Interpol’s “Evil”, Black Eyed Peas’s “Meet Me Halfway,” and The Game’s “Hate It Or Love It”), plus a bunch of new releases. First up is “Spike Island” from Pulp’s latest album, and it reminds me of the sleepy-yet-revitalizing-yet-chill feeling of driving back from the beach on a really hot, sunny day. Then we have Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s new single, “Boys With The Characteristics Of Wolves,” which has UMO written all over it, à la a smooth and delicate acoustic riff that’s energized with a jam-y, electric chorus. It’s giving summer romance in a 2012 way — IYKYK. Next is Rico Nasty’s “CRASH,” plus Addison Rae’s “New York,” which both make me want to dance in a sweaty club til dawn.
Oh, and the news. I have Moloko’s “Forever More,” which comes from a new series I’m doing here on Mouldboard! Essentially, I’m going to interview interesting people with cool careers. This song has been recommended by my first interviewee, whose interview will be up this weekend!
Here’s the playlist — enjoy your month, everyone. Love YOU! xx
